Books for January

Today is the beginning of my new routine for January. We are officially back from stay-cation. David is starting school. Danny is headed to the office. All of us are laying aside our Christmas toys and getting back to work. =) There are few times when that feels as good as it does in January when “fresh” permeates everything we do like a blanket of dense fog.

I have three books on my January reading list-
1. The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth: Live Them and Reach Your Potential by John Maxwell

Danny and I, along with a few others, are reading this book together and discussing it along the way.

2.  Setting the Table: The Transforming Power of Hospitality in Business by DannyMeyer

My brother, who works in the restaurant industry,  recommended this book to me as inspirational for creating community with food. I am always intrigued by a good look at what creates community as well as understanding into the vast world of food lovers.

3. Moments with the Savior: A Devotional Life of Christ by Ken Gire

I actually started this book last month when I was looking for a Christmas devotional. It is a great little supplement alongside my normal Bible reading plan. And I am enjoying his perspective and writing style a lot.

That is my January line up. If I get these three finished then this book is waiting in the wings-

The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt’s Darkest Journey by Candice Millard

I am a big fan of Millard after reading her last book about James Garfield and am looking forward to reading anything else she puts out. This book was actually published previous to Destiny of the Republic so I hope she writes something new in the next year or so. =)

Do you have any books on your reading list? I would love to hear about it.
